Internet Subculture

So there are many internet "sub-culture" WoW, eBay, Facebook, MySpace, Xanga, even blogger, basically any website that has some kind of following could be called a sub-culture of the internet as a whole. What I want to talk about is YouTube. YouTube took off like a rocket. It's incredible and consumes a good amount of my day on a regular basis. I was wondering how you feel about YouTube or other internet sub-cultures. What is your favorite online culture or website. Also, I wanted to shamelessly plug my facebook group for Essential YouTube.

I am 31 and rather youthful and understand the surge of "internet sub-culture", but I fear that is causing our society to loose valuable social skills and providing too many opportunities to garner humor from others misfortunes.

I am a huge fan of you tube, just because it gives creative people the opportunity to put videos I, and people like me, want to see. Hilarious videos from groups like Derrick's Comedy (best known for bro-rape) previously had no way to get widespread coverage and attention.

As far as YouTube goes, I enjoy it thoroughly, but it doesn't consume me. I feel it's up to you to decide how the "subculture" affect your life. I don't feel like I'm a part of it, but I enjoy at times what it has to offer. I am also a big fan of "Charlie the Unicorn." :-)
